What You Need to Know About Healthy Living and Fertility
If you’re visiting “Wellness” for the first time, Dr. Ron Clisham and his Fertility & Wellness team want to extend to you our gratitude for taking the time to reach out to get to know us. Your own health has a significant impact on your fertility: the better health you’re in, the more likely you are to have a successful pregnancy. Consequently, the relationship between healthy living and fertility is just as important as individual treatments like IVF or artificial insemination. At the Fertility Institute, we hope that you’ll find information that will help you in your wellness journey toward healthy living. As you read through the pages, you will find that we give away a lot of free content. Even if you’re not a patient in our practice, all you have to do is submit a request and we’ll be happy to send it to you.
Put simply, the better health you’re in, the more likely you are to become pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy.
If you’re a patient in our wellness practice and ready to begin your fertility journey, we offer a number of other services which are designed to take away some of the stress of being a patient and improve your health.
The Keto-genic Protocol
Our standard program utilizes a keto-genic (low carb, protein-rich) protocol of selected foods, of your choosing, to lower insulin in patients with insulin resistance. Office visits are usually covered by health insurance. We also offer a more structured program (Ideal Protein) for those needing more supervision. The IP program provides an assortment of conveniently prepared meal replacements, shakes, snacks and assorted supplements, providing a greater variety of high quality, low carb, high protein foods that are consumed in addition to foods of your choosing. Food supplements are not covered by insurance plans.
We have had great success and a number of pregnancies with our ketogenic protocol.
Visit our partner program at WellnessNOLA.com for more information on Ideal Protein.
As a follow-up to the weight loss program, F&W offers a series of cooking classes where we prepare meals in different ways so that you can compare the caloric and nutritional value of different meals.
Are your interested in finding out just how much fat mass you have and your potential risk for heart disease? Pay our Wellness Center a visit, and we will put you on our Tanita body composition scale which will provide you with your weight, BMI, % body fat, % lean mass and a number of other wellness metrics. Just send us your e-mail address in the portal below, and we’ll get you scheduled for a free analysis.
One of the main problems that our wellness clients often run into after gaining control of their insulin levels (and losing a little weight), is not being able to maintain control of their health status. As a follow-up the Fertility & Wellness Program encourages clients, through Tulane’s Goldring Center of Culinary Medicine, to enroll in a series of cooking classes where we prepare meals in different ways so that you can compare the caloric and nutritional value of a standard meal with one prepared in such a way that helps you maintain your waistline and is better for your heart. After six classes, you’ll complete the course of instruction with at least six meals in your culinary repertoire that are healthy for you and your family.
If you’re just to busy to cook, the Fertility & Wellness Program has coordinated with several New Orleans kitchens that will deliver healthy meals to your home, that coordinate with our keto-genic protocol. Just let us know.
Wellness Wednesday Workshops
